Lecture: ‘The Art of Fashion’
Presentation
Did you know that Christian Dior was a gallery owner before becoming a fashion designer? From the hushed salons of Charles Frederick Worth to Dior’s architectural silhouettes, clothing has emerged from the wardrobe to become a work of art in its own right. But how does one exhibit something so ephemeral? And can we really talk about fashion where there are no dresses? Through the masterpieces of the Bonnat-Helleu Museum and the greatest contemporary exhibitions, join lecturer Maïtena Horiot to discover how fabric interacts with painting and how the museum transforms a fleeting silhouette into an eternal icon.
